About Us

Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, our company is a nationally recognized, innovative code consulting firm specializing in building, life safety, energy and accessibility codes and standards and quality control services. Carroll Lee Pruitt, FAIA, NCARB, TRASA
CEO and President

Mr. Pruitt is an architect, code consultant, accessibility specialist and a highly respected speaker. He has taught seminars at the annual meeting and convention of the American Institute of Architects for the last 8 years. He is a registered architect in Texas, Louisianna and Florida and has a Bachleor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is an International Code Council certified building plans examiner and a certified commercial energy plans examiner and inspector. Additionally, he is registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as an accessibilty specialist for plan review and inspection.

Prior to forming Pruitt Consulting, Inc. (formerly Pruitt Associates) in 2004, he worked for the Internaitonal Conference of Buidling Officials and the International Code Council as a Senior Regional Manager providing code interpretation, plan reiview and other technical and membership support services.

Mr. Pruitt has taught numerous seminars for ICBO and ICC and attends a substaintial number of seminars each year to maintain profciency in the codes.

William Rakatansky, FAIA, CSI, NCARB, LEED AP
Senior Code Consultant

Mr. Rakatansky is an architect and code/quality control consultant. He is a graduate of Ohio University, is licensed in four states with NCARB certification, along with having LEEDS accredited professional certification.

Mr. Rakatansky is a former building code enforcement official for both Charlotte/Mecklenburg Building Standards and the state of Ohio.

His memberships include the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the International Code Council (ICC), National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards (NCSBCS), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

He is a former member of the International Code Council’s Education Committee. He is past president of the Charlotte chapter of CSI, and has participated on a national task team to write a chapter on building codes in the CSI Uniform Drawing System Manual.

Mr. Rakatansky co-presented building code seminars and workshops at the AIA National Conventions in 2004 at Chicago, in 2005 at Las Vegas, in 2006 at Los Angeles, in 2007 at San Antonio, and in 2008 in Boston and will present in 2009 inSan Francisco. He also presented building code seminars at the CSI National Conventions in 2007 at Baltimore, and in 2008 at as Vegas.

He was a member and 2007 chair of the AIA Building Science and Performance Advisory Committee Knowledge Community.

Mr. Rakatansky is a member of the North Carolina Code Officials Qualifications Board, is chair of this board’s education committee and is a member of the Mecklenburg County Capital Budget Advisory Committee. He was also a member of the Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Mr. Rakatansky participated on a regional task team to modify the USGBC LEEDS standards for use in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. He is also a member of the North Carolina AIA codes committee, and Charlotte AIA codes committee.
